Hamevaser of Chicago ("we", "us", "our") operates an SMS community notification service for members of the Chicago Jewish community. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

• Mobile phone number — provided by you when you opt in.
• Name — if you provide it at sign-up.
• Opt-in source, timestamp, and IP address — how and when you subscribed, retained as proof of consent.
• Message history — texts sent to and received from our number, and delivery status.
• Group / tag membership — which lists you belong to (e.g. Daf Yomi, Events).

2. How You Opt In

You may join our SMS list by any of the following methods:

• Web form — submitting the sign-up form at hamevaserofchicago.com/join, which requires you to enter your mobile number and check a box explicitly agreeing to receive recurring SMS messages from Hamevaser of Chicago.
• SMS keyword — texting the keyword JOIN to our number in response to advertised call-to-action language.
• Printed sign-up sheet — providing your written signature on a paper form at community events. The paper form contains the same SMS consent language, mobile number field, and signature line as the web form.

By opting in you agree to receive recurring SMS messages from Hamevaser of Chicago, including community announcements, event reminders, minyan and shiur updates, and important notices. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Send community announcements, event reminders, minyan and shiur updates, and important notices.
• Respond to your replies and support requests.
• Manage your list membership and honor opt-out requests.
• Maintain records required for SMS compliance (10DLC, TCPA, CTIA).

4. Sharing of Information — SMS Consent & Phone Numbers

No mobile information, including mobile opt-in data and consent, will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your mobile number and SMS opt-in consent will not be sold, rented, or shared with any third party for their own marketing or promotional use under any circumstance.

Information you provide is only disclosed to service providers that are strictly necessary to deliver our SMS service — specifically our SMS carrier Telnyx LLC, which transmits the messages on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using your information for its own marketing — and when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety of our subscribers.

5. Opting Out

You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP, END, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, or QUIT to any message. You will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts. Reply HELP or INFO for help, or email info@hamevaserofchicago.com.

6. Data Retention

We retain your phone number, opt-in record, and message history for as long as you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period afterwards to document consent and honor opt-outs, as required by applicable SMS regulations. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us at the address below.

7. Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. Access to subscriber data is restricted to authorized administrators of Hamevaser of Chicago.

8. Children

Our service is not directed to individuals under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
